Uppsala Security joins INTERPOL’s Gateway Initiative to strengthen public-private cooperation against cybercrime involving cryptocurrency and digital assets.

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Uppsala Security, a global blockchain intelligence and cryptocurrency investigation company, has joined INTERPOL’s Gateway Initiative, strengthening cooperation between law enforcement and the private sector in addressing cybercrime involving cryptocurrency and other digital assets.

Over the past several years, Uppsala Security has contributed technical expertise, actionable intelligence and blockchain investigative capabilities to INTERPOL-coordinated operations. This cooperation has demonstrated the importance of public-private partnerships in responding to the growing use of cryptocurrency and other digital assets in criminal activity.

Supporting Cryptocurrency and Financial Investigations

As cryptocurrency becomes increasingly integrated into cybercrime, fraud, ransomware, scams and money laundering, blockchain intelligence provides investigators with an additional source of evidence for following illicit financial flows.

Uppsala Security's contribution is centred on blockchain analysis, transaction tracing, cryptocurrency intelligence and investigative support, helping investigators understand the movement of digital assets and identify connections between blockchain transactions and criminal activity.

Uppsala Security provided on-the-ground operational support and actionable intelligence to INTERPOL in Operation Serengeti 2.0 that dismantled fraudulent networks and cryptocurrency investment schemes.

INTERPOL's 2025 Operation Sentinel was supported by Uppsala Security among others that resulted in 574 arrests and the recovery of approximately USD 3 million.

Contributing Intelligence to Counter Terrorist Financing

Uppsala Security has also contributed to INTERPOL-led efforts addressing the increasingly complex relationship between cybercrime, financial crime and terrorist financing.

The Operation Catalyst in 2025 brought together financial-crime, cybercrime and counter-terrorism authorities from several African countries to identify and disrupt financial flows supporting terrorism, based on intelligence provided by private organizations that included Uppsala Security.

Supporting International Action Against Online Scams

More recently, Uppsala Security was among the private organizations supporting Operation Red Card 2.0, an INTERPOL-coordinated operation targeting online scams across Africa. The operation resulted in 651 arrests and the recovery of approximately USD 4.3 million.
